The project with a title “I am what about you?”, subtitled “A fashion extreme” has been realised on the initiative of a young disabled student named Urša who has received a new wheelchair in the previous year through the help of the donations of individuals and companies, which enabled her a freedom of movement. Her aim is to help the young people with a diagnosis similar to hers’ so they can receive a wheelchair as well.
With is initiative in mind she has managed to gather all of her knowledge and form an informal group of 5 students in the age of 20-30 years and realize a Charity Fashion show to raise funds for a new wheelchair for a young disabled person that can’t afford to buy it himself.
The main topic of this project is antidiscrimination and handicap. With this project she would like to help the disabled young people to be more actively involved in the public life and that their participation in the society as such would be seen as something completely normal.
The above mentioned informal group named “Drimtim” is planning to realise a Charity fashion show at the Public library Oton Župančič in Ljubljana, Slovenia in May 2008. The participants at this Fashion show will be the disabled as well as non- disabled young volunteers. The group has also connected itself with the Non-governmental and governmental Organisations and Associations in their local environment to jointly plan and realise a project such as this. The group has had regular meetings with their members and volunteers and managed to book a location where the event will take place. They have also managed to find local sponsors and applied for the funds of European and local public tenders. They have also found local sponsors and made a connection with the media to advertise the event. |
